They are thesis-driven and seek ventures across a range of frontier themes, including challenger banks, personal finance, insurance, and other infrastructure technologies that empower people. In addition to their venture investments, they also partner with policymakers, thought leaders, and innovative regulators.
Responsibilities
- Lead venture financing transactions from initial term sheet through signing and closing under supervision and with the help of outside counsel
- Manage all aspects of transaction execution, including coordination of signing and closing logistics
- Draft, review, and negotiate primary transaction documents, ancillary agreements, and standard form investment documentation
- Negotiate and review a broad range of commercial and legal agreements, including investment documents, vendor agreements, NDAs, and advisory or consulting agreements
- Oversee routine corporate governance matters, post-closing deliverables, and ongoing entity maintenance
- Develop, improve, and maintain legal systems, policies, procedures, and templates to support governance, compliance, and operational efficiency across the firm
- Provide support in evaluating, drafting, and implementing investment policies, guidelines, and compliance measures
- Serve as a key point of coordination among founders, investors, internal stakeholders, and external counsel to ensure efficient execution and clear communication
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) required; admission to the bar and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 2–4 years of relevant experience in emerging companies and venture capital, asset management, and/or in-house legal roles, ideally with training at a top-tier firm such as Gunderson Dettmer, Cooley, Fenwick, or Wilson Sonsini
- Prior exposure to venture capital, early-stage companies, and corporate governance matters
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex legal and business concepts to both legal and non-legal audiences
- Demonstrated sound judgment and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-responsibility environment
- Proven ability to execute efficiently across multiple projects while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and attention to detail
- High ownership mentality, strong initiative, and comfort operating with limited supervision in a lean, collaborative team
- Genuine interest in the intersection of law, technology, and venture investing, with enthusiasm for both strategic thinking and hands-on execution
Compensation:
- The estimated annual base salary for this position is $150,000 – $180,000 + bonus + carry.
