The Role
The Senior Legal AI Specialist is a strategic expert at the intersection of sophisticated legal judgment and AI-driven execution. As a member of the Professional Services team, you’ll be the primary post-sales consultant for AI-ready legal workflows and playbooks, with a specific focus on the adoption and optimization of Jurist, Ironclad’s AI redlining agent. You’ll transform subjective legal nuances into structured logic, ensuring customers achieve measurable efficiency gains and precise risk management.
This is not a sideline role. You’ll sit at the core of how Ironclad’s AI handles real-world commercial legal work, shaping the systems, standards, and team behind legal engineering at scale.
Responsibilities
- Operationalize legal risk by guiding customers from subjective instructions to precise, data-driven playbooks and pre-approved clause libraries that maximize AI performance and accuracy.
- Spearhead a new services offering focused on customers without existing playbooks, you’ll be the primary architect for turning organizational knowledge into structured, AI-ready playbooks.
- Scale AI-ready frameworks by developing and refining the ‘Ironclad Standard’ for AI implementation, the playbooks, assets, and best practices that enable CS and Professional Services teams globally.
- Bridge legal and technical intent by partnering with the Legal Engineering team to ensure legal intent is perfectly translated into technical workflow execution.
- Advance customer maturity from manual redlining to AI-augmented negotiation, coaching customers on effective prompting patterns and how to safely push the boundaries of AI in their legal workflows.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Ironclad’s own Legal team to align product functionality with real-world legal department needs and inform AI roadmap decisions.
- Drive partner and internal enablement by developing training and certification materials to scale playbook development services through third-party partners.
- Be the voice of the practitioner, advocate for legal users, and ensure product enhancements and AI training reflect the nuances of sophisticated commercial practice.
- Stay ahead of the AI curve, helping customers envision how upcoming capabilities will further transform their legal operations and contracting velocity.
Requirements
- J.D. and an active bar license (or equivalent)
- 3–5+ years drafting and negotiating commercial contracts (MSAs, SOWs, SaaS agreements) with instinctive command of market-standard positions and fallbacks
- Systems thinking: the ability to deconstruct complex legal ‘unwritten rules’ into structured, data-driven logic that AI can interpret
- Strategic advisory experience facilitating workshops or high-stakes consultations; comfortable translating customer risk tolerance into product configurations
- Solid AI knowledge, you can explain in plain language what an LLM is and does to a non-technical lawyer, and you have a grounded, critical understanding of where AI is likely to fail in legal contexts
- Prompting expertise: experience diagnosing why an AI interaction went wrong and iterating toward better results, particularly in contracting scenarios
- A tinkerer mindset, you actively experiment with AI tools and bring back patterns that can be standardized for customers
- Exceptional communication and influence skills across both legal and technical audiences
- Builder mentality, you don’t just solve for one customer; you look for patterns to create repeatable frameworks
