Legal Engineer, AI - GC AI

Remote, US or Canada/PST time zone

About

GC AI is an AI platform for in-house lawyers to 10x themselves. Using the latest LLMs, we are building AI agents that can use company knowledge, leverage external sources, and connect with internal tools to provide better and faster legal advice to the rest of the company. Our founder and CEO is an AI visionary, three-time general counsel, and longtime in-house counsel for tech companies including Amazon, and our cofounder is an AI engineer obsessed with outstanding customer experiences in software.

Legal AI is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build for a $300B annual market in the pinnacle vertical of AI, as recognized by everyone, including Supreme Court Justice Roberts who says that legal work “may soon be unimaginable” without AI. We are venture-funded, seed-stage, and building a world-class team. This is a role worth leaving your FAANG or other hot lawyer job for. Trust. 😎

The Role

As our first Legal Engineer, AI, you'll set the stage for how legal teams of the future work. Your impact will be direct and measurable. The best part? The product is great and it’s easy to get adoption. We have clear, deep product market fit as customers want our product. In this role, you’ll leverage your legal expertise to introduce GC AI’s tools to customers, becoming a trusted advisor on how our solutions can enhance their daily workflows. You’ll have the opportunity to influence how our AI solutions are perceived and adopted. By building strong relationships with key decision-makers and leading tailored demos and educational sessions, you’ll help clients understand the real-world impact of our technology. You’ll be part of a fast-moving startup, where your contributions will shape how we grow and succeed in a rapidly evolving legal landscape.

What you’ll do

  • Engage with lawyers at existing and prospective clients to understand their workflow challenges, then demonstrate how GC AI’s tools can solve them in a practical, impactful way
  • Establish yourself as a trusted expert by addressing specific legal problems such as legal research, contract drafting, document analysis, due diligence, and more
  • Lead tailored product demos for various law firm practice groups and in-house legal teams, asking insightful questions to validate how GC AI can add value and showcasing features and benefits
  • Act as the “Voice of the Customer,” sharing legal insights with the product teams to improve our product features based on client feedback.
  • Help shape market perception by positioning GC AI as a credible, substantive, and valuable partner, using our AI tools to make lawyers more effective and efficient.

You’ll need these qualifications

  • A law degree or experience working in-house as a legal team member
  • Already love using AI
  • You like people. Some people don't. They aren't a fit. Maybe you are?
  • Demonstrated smarts - either in school, in a side hustle, or some other way you've shown you learn quickly, deeply, and well
  • Automation, CLM, or other legal software experience
  • Into community, into helping others, and have a keen memory for people and their goals
  • A proactive and empathetic approach to client interactions.
  • Capacity to manage multiple accounts and prioritize tasks effectively

It would be nice if

  • You are already a GC AI user
  • Experience in sales, client-facing roles, business development, or directly managing client matters and relationships
  • You are nerdy about legal tech
  • You're into social media

Compensation

  • The expected OTE (on-target earnings) range of compensation starts at $125-165,000, plus stock options we have every reason to think are going to the moon. We give candidates the ability to choose between equity and cash.
