Lawyer in Sales – GC AI

Remote, US or Canada/PST time zone

About company

GC AI is an AI platform for in-house lawyers to 10x themselves. Using the latest LLMs, we are building AI agents that can use company knowledge, leverage external sources, and connect with internal tools to provide better and faster legal advice to the rest of the company. Our founder and CEO is an AI visionary, three-time general counsel, and longtime in-house counsel for tech companies including Amazon, and our cofounder is an AI engineer obsessed with outstanding customer experiences in software.

Legal AI is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build for a $300B annual market in the pinnacle vertical of AI, as recognized by everyone, including Supreme Court Justice Roberts who says that legal work “may soon be unimaginable” without AI. We are venture-funded, seed-stage, and building a world-class team. This is a role worth leaving your FAANG or other hot lawyer job for. Trust. 😎

The Role

As our first lawyer in sales, you'll set the stage for how legal teams of the future work. Your impact will be direct and measurable. The best part? The product sells easily because it's exceptionally good legal AI. We have clear, deep product market fit as customers want our product.

Bonus - you know Alex Su? And how he says going into sales changed his life (link)? Do you want that?

We have a hubspot list of MQLs that embarasses me as CEO because I can't get to it fast enough. So we need someone who is exceptionally organized, can follow up, and can close deals in record time. You will use your deep domain expertise to help bring the AI revolution to in-house legal teams. Where it belongs!

What you'll do

  • Manage the sales from inbound leads (which we are overflowing with) to close
  • Evaluate and prioritize new leads and personalize reach outs to secure demos
  • Conduct tailored demos of GC AI, by specific legal workflows and challenges.
  • Collaborate closely with the founder during client meetings, pinpointing legal needs and proposing solutions, while also mastering the sales pitch.
  • Client understanding and discovery - e.g. pre-meeting emails, asking questions to make face-to-face conversations flow.
  • Follow-up after meetings with customized proposals and agreements
  • Track sales and deals in Hubspot.
  • Proactively seek out and implement strategies to improve the sales process
  • Partner across the company (engineering, operations, legal) to make GC AI the very best AI platform for in-house lawyers

You need these qualifications

  • A law degree (must) and, ideally, experience working in-house or equivalent
  • Already love using AI
  • Sales skills or propensity - Alex Su has good articles on this, check him out
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach to identifying and solving problems
  • You write dang good emails
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deals simultaneously
  • Demonstrated smarts - either in school, in a side hustle, or some other way you've shown you learn quickly, deeply, and well

It would be nice if

  • You are already a GC AI user
  • You have experience doing some kind of selling

Compensation

  • The expected OTE (on-target earnings) range of compensation starts at $110K up through $225K plus stock options we have every reason to think are going to the moon. We give candidates the ability to choose between equity and cash.
